Coach Tracy is in her 5th season with Monsters Volleyball.
MY SPORTS BACKGROUND - I was a multi-sport athlete growing up. I did gymnastics (until I got a little too tall (lol)), swimming, soccer, basketball, track, and volleyball. I went to Troy High School. In high school, I played basketball, volleyball and ran track (for two years). I earned various accolades in basketball and volleyball.
In volleyball, I became a setter because I was not tall as a freshman. Believe it or not, I grew junior year in high school. Accolades that I earned included: Sophomore year -Third team All-Region; Second team All-Area; Honorable mention All-League; and Second team Observer & Eccentric. Junior Year - All-State Honorable Mention; All-Region Dream Team; First Team All-League; First Team Oakland Press; First Team All-Area; U of M All-Tournament Team; the Daily Tribune Prep Star of the Week, Co-MVP; and Colt Of the Year 1992, which was the biggest honor of our school. My setting percentage was 98%, and lead career assists at 886. I did play travel volleyball and basketball my last two years of high school. At that time, my middle hitter landed a basketball scholarship at UofM, and my right-side hitter landed a volleyball scholarship at Gannon University. So, half of our starting line-up were collegiate athletes with very good work ethic. We trained very hard together. Our teams won the leagues I think every year, but that was a long time ago. We were humbly confident because of the leaders before us. I hope I can be that for your girls.
My ultimate dream since middle school was to play collegiate level volleyball. With many options, I ultimately accepted a full ride scholarship to Wayne State University as their setter. I was a scholar athlete at WSU from 1992-1996. During that time, I was named Freshman of the Year all GLIAC 1992. I proceeded to break the career assist record my sophomore year, and over doubled it by senior year with 5,136, which still stands. I was a yearly leader in assists. I also received recognition for a lot of all-around play such as aces, digs, blocks, and attacking. I was second team All GLIAC in 1995 and was all academic team 1994-1995. I did various internships in the summer in my field, and graduated with a Bachelors’ degree in Business. I played a little bit of co-ed and higher-level women’s volleyball tournaments with Division I players. I proceeded to start getting injured at that point and turned to some coaching. I coached at a small private school in Berkley a couple of years and then started my family. I have helped many kids with their skills at open gyms for many years, and then helped at another club as an assistant. I realized I love coaching and here I am now.
I look forward to coaching this season. It’s a competitive world out there, and with teamwork and unity, hard work and dedication, this team will be amazing! I look forward to a great year! Thank you!
